Tom & Madge Newcombe,
Dad died in Jan 1996,Mum died April 1996
76yrs dad, mum 78yrs
Dad was ill for some years, with chest problems. He worked down the pit for years, had driving jobs and was a coal man for many years too. He also worked in a pub, where he was head barman, what better job to have if you like your beer??! Maybe all these jobs led him to have a bad chest??.Dad had been brought up a country boy, then lived in the city when he married mum. Dad had 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
When dad got really bad, he had to go into hospital, I was going to see him before i went to work, what i didnt know was that they had called me, to say he was getting worse, and that my brother and sisters were on there way too. The curtain was pulled around dads bed, i just sat with him holding his hand saying how much i loved him,a nurse came in,and waited with me, then, he was gone, i just heard the footsteps of the otheres comeing, and as they poped there head through the curtain, i sad,"You missed him, hes gone" that was my first experience of death, but i wasnt scared, hope dad wasnt?. Im glad i was with him though,at the end.
He died of, cronic bronchitus and emphersiemia. when we were at dads grave side, mum said," I always loved him you know, there was never anybody else for me " God Bless dad, xxxxx Jeaniexxxx
Still mising you

Hi dad, just been telling mum about our wedding in 1998, i was just saying that the only 3 people missing were you, mum, and Pete's mum. But we know you were there in spirit. And i bet Aunty Peggy told you all about it anyway. She enjoyed it. It wasnt long after that, when Aunty Peggy came to join you and mum. Hope she is happy, has she found Uncle George?? And then Aunty Syble came to you last year.

Hi Grandad.....same as mama, i dont remember loads about you......i remember things when i was a kid, but because i didnt see you loads, it feels like a dream.....Paula (my big sister) remembers more about you then me, but she use to come to visit you cos she was old enough too!.....she doted on you! what i remember about you, was that we were never allowed to be naughty!! i remember you at your best times, when you and mama lived at saxondale drive, your back door had one of them fly stopper things! in strips! i loved it......then onto your back garden, which was a big vegetable & fruit patch! i remember the rhubarb most! you would pick it for us and let us eat it with sugar all over it! and then.....who can forget....your companion Butch! your little black dog, he was lovely. i was only young when he died so dont remember hearing that he'd died....just that he was gone, but i knew he was your best friend & that you missed him loads. i hope you have been re-united with mama, Auntie Peggy & of course Butch.....send them my love......look after baby Brennan for Debbie....god bless Grandad xxxx
